Description of the problem	Tl* the contact owns a 2013 hyundai sonata. The contact stated that the manufacturer issued nhtsa campaign number: 18v137000 (air bags and seat belts) on february 27, 2018. Prior to the recall, the contact was involved in a crash. The contact was at a stop light when another vehicle crashed into the rear of her vehicle. As a result, the contact's vehicle slammed into the preceding vehicle. None of the air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The driver, front passenger, and two rear passengers sustained whiplash, neck pain, and back pain that required medical attention. The insurance company was notified and the vehicle was towed. Great lakes hyundai (9630 oh-14, streetsboro, oh 44241, (330) 422-1212) was contacted, but did not determine the cause of the air bag failure. The manufacturer sent a letter on july 9, 2016 stating that the system functioned normally. The collision damages were repaired by the insurance company. The contact was uncertain if the manufacturer would authorize the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified that the failure occurred prior to the recall being issued. The failure mileage was not available.
