| Description of the problem | Steering wheel flexible coupler (p/n 56315-2k000) worn out causing a mild 'locking' followed by a dull sound when turning the steering wheel back to the 'straight' position during left/right/u turn at city speeds. Dealership quickly identified the problem (indicating that it is very common) and quoted $375 + tax for the replacement with an upgraded part, which costs a mere $2. The fact that hyundai has an upgraded part indicates that they acknowledge that the original part is problematic. Hyundai is following a dirty practice of selling cars with substandard parts and then charging an exorbitant labor fee to replace it with an upgraded part when it eventually wears out. |
