Description of the problemThis model vehicle has the following issue reported - see internet sites - all too often and hyundai has taken no remedial action. Together with the check engine light the fuel gauge is very erratic due to sensors failing in the fuel tank that sends the fuel level reading to the dashboard fuel gauge. In addition to being a costly consumer repair due to the manufacturer defect; this is very probably a safety issue in that without a reliable fuel indicator on the instrument cluster the vehicle operator could easily, unknowingly, run out of fuel while driving and causing an accident with the possibility of those in the suv being injured or worse. This problem exists whenever the suv is being driven on a roadway as well as when parked with the engine on or running. This suv only has 44,000 miles on it.
