| Description of the problem | Hyundai has an issue with faulty throttle position sensors which causes the car's engine to stumble and then switch into "limp home" mode. This mode only allows a top speed of 20mph with very little acceleration power. This problem occurs when you are depressing the gas pedal, such as pulling out into traffic or merging into traffic. This is a serious safety issue that could lead to crashes, as the car will not accelerate as it is supposed to. Currently, hyundai has issued tsb 09-fl-003-2, but will only cover the repair costs if the car is under warranty. Being a serious safety issue, i feel that they should be required to recall these vehicles and replace defective sensors. |
