| Description of the problem | Check engine light came on and wouldn't go out. Took it to the garage and they pulled up the code po442, evap leak. They did a smoke test and found out the fuel pump unit was all rusted out and also the straps holding the fuel tank in was all rusted out. One of the straps was completely broken off and only one was holding the tank but it was all rusted. Called a dealer because this part should have an 80,000 mile warranty but they said it was under powertrain and it wouldn't be covered. How could this be powertrain when it was an emissions issue. This is a very unsafe issue. It probably could of caught on fire. The vehicle is only a 2006 with 65000 miles on it so how could this happen. |
