| Description of the problem | The mechanical design of the turn signal lever (joystick, as i call it) is such that it requires too little pressure in order to be pushed forward which activates the high beam headlights. In simple terms, using the turn signals turns on the high beams accidentally on this vehicle. This causes a couple safety issues. Firstly, other drivers and oncoming traffic could be unnecessarily blinded by high beams if i have not noticed that my high beams have been accidentally turned on. Secondly, it creates a situation where i (driver) have to spend more time looking at the instrument panel than is necessary. While driving at night, i either have to additionally glance at the instrument panel or take a longer glance while checking my speed in order to know if the high beams have been activated accidentally. Turn signal joysticks have been around longer than i have, and we all know how to use them. They are simple, basic safety features and there seems no reason why a manufacturer should botch these at this point. Date of incident listed date that i took possession of the vehicle, as this is ongoing issue. |
