Description of the problem	The engine started making a knocking sound in q1 of 2020. A tech stated that the sound happens because of the low oil level in the engine. I had noticed the knocking sound especially when driving up or down at an angle and also on turns. The dealership performed several oil consumption tests and the knocking persisted. In q3 of 2020, the dealership replaced the vtec thinking this would be the fix. Then in january 2021, when the oil indicator was at 35%, the knocking began again. The dealership opened up the engine and found that the spark plugs, pistons and piston rings are all fouled, and that oil has seeped into these engine parts. Honda corporate has offered to pay for a portion but not all of the repair cost which is $5400. They have not offered to extend the warranty to 8 years and 125,000 miles which is what was provided to cars in the offer for 2010-2011 crvs and 2011 accords were given by honda according to a may 15, 2015 article for this same defect. Class action lawsuit - similarly a class-action lawsuit concerning this same defect was settled in 2013 covering several honda models. Plaintiffs were [xxx] and [xxx] with u. S district judge [xxx] in san francisco. Honda agreed in the settlement to extend the powertrain limited warranty for up to 8 years.
