| Description of the problem | I had not used the car all day, but around 5:45 pm (03/12/20) i drove approximately 2 miles to an appointment. As i pulled into the parking area in front of the shop, i saw what i thought was steam coming from under the hood. I turned the engine off and tried to release the hood latch, while i was doing that a man banged on the driver's side window and told me to quickly get out of the car. I did so and as i was walking towards the shop the car burst into flames. See attached pictures. Someone from the store call 911, a policeman arrived and tackled the fire with his fire extinguisher but it failed to control the fire. Shortly afterwards 3 fire engines were on the scene. They asked people to move adjacent cars and evacuated the stores around the fire. They eventually put out the fire. |
