| Description of the problem | The sunroof (or moonroof as they call it) spontaneously shattered while driving on the highway. Thankfully the glass didn't go inside the vehicle, but it was a tremendous shock to us. We were very lucky that the glass didn't fall onto our heads as we were driving. Initially we thought this was due to an external event such as a rock being thrown to our car, although we were not under a bridge when this happened. When we stopped, we realized that the problem wasn't external. The glass shattered in an even mesh, without any evidence of an impact. The mesh was pointing outwards in the center, rather than inwards as expected if it had been an external cause. I've attached some photos. I also have video of the shattered sunroof if needed. |
