| Description of the problem | I am the automotive technician examining the vehicle. Mr. Jared larsen complained that his steering wheel began being off center both to the left and the right. Sometimes as much as 90 degrees off center. Upon examining the vehicle it was found that the steel insert where the steering wheel mounts to the steering shaft has stripped out to the steering wheel. Under moderate pressure the steering wheel becomes loose and there is no steering response. (notice the white stripe at the 9 o'clock position in the pictures and the second picture the stripe is split between 9 and 12) loss of steering can result in a crash. The vehicle will be repaired and the old steering wheel available for examination on request. |
