| Description of the problem | I was accelerating at a yield sign to merge onto the main road. I realized the car was accelerating more than it should be and was quickly approaching a very unsafe speed for this road (approx 60-70 mph). Felt the accelerator depressing itself further as i completely removed my foot from the pedal. Acceleration continued, and rpms were approaching the red zone of 6000-7000. Not knowing what else to do, i put the car in neutral and pulled to the side of the road. The excessive revving and rpms continued for about 30 seconds before suddenly going to 0. Car was still running and i was able to continue driving, but now i'm worried this may happen again in less forgiving conditions. |
