Description of the problemI own a 2004 honda crv and have had problems with the seat belts for over 20,000 miles. Both front seat belts lock when they should not and will not retract until they have been unfastened and pulled all the way out and re-inserted into the buckle. At which point it happens again, and again. I have brought the car to the dealership at least 4 times with the same complaint and all they do is lubricate the belts and say they "cannot re-produce the problem." i also called american honda company to file a complaint, and they will not do anything if the dealership can't re-produce the problem. Which is bull, as i brought the service writer out and showed him exactly what happens. Now the srs light is on the dash indicating there is a problem with either the seat belt tensioners and/or air bags. I am hoping when i bring it in again this week they will actually replace the seat belts. Not only is there supposed to be a lifetime warranty on the seat belts, but it is a very obvious safety issue that neither american honda or the dealership is willing to address unless there is not a proven problem with the tensioners, the dealer gets stuck paying the labor to fix the problem. How many people have to get hurt before the srs light is lit, indicating seat belt tensioner failure, before the problem is addressed? (it took over 20k miles before my srs light came on to indicate the problem i knew existed).
