Description of the problem	While traveling through nevada to albuquerque, new mexico by motorcycle during mid august the heat from my helmet was becoming unbearable. Before long i began to have the sensation i was losing consciousness. I pulled off the road and sat down under a joshuah tree. I removed the helmet. After approximately 20 minutes i felt i could ride again. I managed to reach las vegas where i was able to get off the highway into a texaco gasoline station. I removed the helmet once again. By this time i was suffering badly from the heat of the helmet. I spent about 45 minutes in the shade of the canopy of the station. I continued on to boulder city and across the boulder dam. Arizona does not have a helmet requirement so i was able to remove the helmet and wear a baseball cap. It was instant relief as the breeze from traveling cooled my head immensely. My thought processes returned to normal as well as my judgment and ability to handle the motorcycle. There is a very real danger from loosing consciousness on a motorcycle while wearing a helmet in 100 + degree temperatures.
