Description of the problem	During normal operation of my harley davidson motorcycle, the faulty fuel gauge chronically displays higher level of fuel than what is really there. Failure occurs more times than not. I had the fuel sending unit (sonar) replaced using my extended warranty which cost me $50 out of pocket. The new device worked for approximately 100 miles before failing again. Hd has updated the part number (3x), but no actual repair or correction to the faulty unit developed. Latest "fix" installs an algorithm that prevents the fuel level from registering unless the bike is running and in motion. Still does not work. Current "updated" part is in my motorcycle and is faulty & available. I am one of over 1000 people with this issue. (1130cc. Com) running out of fuel at 80mph on a busy public highway even though your fuel gauge displays you have 1/4 tank left is not fun. Even worse when you are in the far left lane of a 4 lane highway. This has happened to me three times since owning the bike. The most recent incident was march 2010.
