| Description of the problem | As i was driving my 2006 ford freestar on a busy highway, the vehicle acted as if it went into neutral and i had to coast to the side of the road. The vehicle would not go into forward or reverse gear at all - it was simply stuck on the side of the road. This van has only 69,000 miles on it and should not have such an issue at this point! I have had it towed to a mechanic who informs me that the torque converter and possibly more will need to be replaced leaving me out of pocket over $3,000. 00. I have researched this problem and as i entered "2006 ford freestar" into google search it seems that this is an ongoing problem that is happening with thousands of other vehicles of the same year/make. Why is this not a recall from ford? This is a very dangerous problem! I was traveling at a speed of 72mph in heavy traffic when this occurred and could have been killed! When will these people have to start doing something about the faulty vehicles being made and sold to the public???? I do not have the time or money to replace a transmission at 69,000 miles on a vehicle that obviously has a defect from the factory! |
