| Description of the problem | Tl* the contact owns a 2005 ford freestar. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle independently decelerated to 30 mph. The contact applied the brakes for a traffic stop but as he accelerated from the stop, the transmission failed to operate with a rapid increase in engine rpms. The vehicle was towed to an independent transmission center. The mechanic stated that the failure was related to the torque converter. The transmission was rebuilt by the mechanic.
