| Description of the problem | During normal operation of our 2004 ford freestar, the vehicle ceased movement due to a catastrophic failure of the automatic transmission, requiring removal and replacement of the transmission at approximately 75,000 miles. The maintenance garage (a ford dealer) could not determine the exact cause of the failure, but noted the presence of a significant amount of metal shavings within the fluid evacuated from the failed transmission. |
