| Description of the problem | While driving with a cross wind, especially on two lane roads when passed in the opposite direction by a semi, the hood jumps (pops) up approximately 1-2 inches on the rear edge. In high cross winds the distance has been higher (3-4) inches. Have had to dealer look at it and talked to ford "chat line". Their suggestion was to report it here. The rear hinges allow the hood to rotate up when latched . The front latch is taking an excessive amount of upward force in these situations and likely to fail or metal fatigue. Believe the cross wind effectively creates a vacuum which is increased by a passing vehicle which "sucks" the hood upwards. There is a normal "vibration" or shaking of the hood likely because of the lightening of the material. This is not what i am referring to. Ongoing/repetitive issue. Has occurred since new |
