Description of the problem	Started vehicle as usual, shifted the shifter from park to drive. The vehicle appeared to be in drive but the transmission was in reverse. Releasing the brake pedal confirmed that the transmission was in reverse (vehicle moved backwards) but the shifter showed drive. I then shifted the shifter to park but the transmission remained stuck in reverse. Once i turned off the engine i could not restart because the transmission was stuck in reverse even though the shifter showed it was in park. Had the vehicle towed to dealership for repair. This event happened in my driveway and did not result in damage or injuries.
