Description of the problem	On july 24, 2020 while driving on interstate 291 driving 45-50mph with heavy traffic, with absolutely no warning there was a loud explosion. I thought i was rear ended. Simultaneously the rear tires locked up while approaching a work zone. I skidded uncontrollably for approximately 100 feet. Ultimately came to rest on the shoulder. As my family and i exited the vehicle there was heavy smoke coming from the rear and underside of the vehicle. We thought the vehicle was on fire. The state police arrived on the scene within 5 minutes upon us exiting the vehicle. The transmission wouldn't go into gear so the vehicle had to be flat bedded to the nearest dealership, marcotte ford, holyoke ma. Was told by the dealership the rear end failed and locked up. Upon their test drive i was told there was a total failure with the transmission. They said they had to wait for a decision from ford to either rebuild or replace the transmission. August 19, 2020 i was notified that the transmission was rebuilt and that i could pick up the vehicle. I did not receive any prior phone calls from them to inform me of what was going to be done to correct the situation. .
