| Description of the problem | Exploding rear glass - 45f external temp, turned on the rear defroster, after about 5 minutes i heard what sounded like someone hit the truck with a baseball bat! I look around and notice the driverside portion of my 3 section power sliding rear windshield has shattered. After calling a repair place i learned that this is a very common issue with these trucks. There needs to be a recall from what i can tell, sounds like the source of the problem is faulty rear defrost elements getting too hot and causing the glass to shatter in cold weather. Truck ran for a few minutes in the driveway before leaving for work. Glass shattered about a mile into the drive while going around 40 mph on a city street (barker cypress in cypress, tx to be exact). |
