| Description of the problem | Driving down the interstate at 70 mph, the "check brake system" warning flashed on the dash. I went to push the brake pedal and it was locked in place. I physically could not depress the pedal, not even enough to disable the cruise control. I had to switch cruise off on the wheel, shift to neutral, and coast to a stop on the shoulder of the highway. Shut the truck down, turned back on and the code disappeared and my brakes worked again. Later that day, the exact same thing happened on the interstate again. Physically could not depress the brake pedal. It was like it was locked in place and i could not bring the truck to a stop. I took my truck into the dewey ford in ankeny, ia a couple nights later and they began diagnostics. 4 days later, they could not reproduce the problem, and advised me to come pick up the truck. Nothing against the dealer, as they cannot fix what they can't reproduce, and they were kind enough to provide a loaner and a discount on the diagnostics fee, but ford corporate really needs to get involved on this safety concern. I've tried calling their customer service, but they will do nothing until it can be diagnosed. If the dealer can't find the problem, then ford needs to send a product support representative to diagnose it themselves. As of today, my truck has done this 4 times since leaving dewey, but always when i am too far from their store to drop it off. At this point, im scared to drive my truck in traffic or with passengers. Please use your powers to relay this to ford as we have a serious problem that they are ignoring. I have a receipt from the dealer for the diagnostics if a copy of this is needed for my complaint. |
