| Description of the problem | Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford f-150. While driving approximately 50 mph and attempting to apply the brakes, the gear downshifted on its own. Also, the wrench symbol and check engine indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was coasted over to the side of the road. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission failed. The vehicle was towed to plaza ford (410-838-3100, located at 1701 bel air rd, bel air, md 21014) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that nhtsa campaign number: 19v075000 (power train) was only for the reprogramming of the power train control module. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 163,000. |
