Description of the problem	Driving 72mph on interstate 40 with cruise control on. Vehicle unexpectedly downshifted to first gear. Vehicle rear tires locked and vehicle swerved almost putting me off the road. Was almost rear ended and run over by 18 wheeler. Was able to maintain control and pulled over. After collecting myself, i drove the remaining 10 minutes home without any more trouble.
