| Description of the problem | I took my ford f150 to the dealer for a routine oil and tire rotation. The service rep came to me and said that it will take a little longer for service because your lug nuts are swelling. He explained to me that i should purchase new lug nuts because a special dealer tool is needed to remove the swelled lug nut. If i have a flat tire, i would not be able to change it do to the swelled lug nuts which would require a tow to a ford dealer. Ford knows of the problem with the lugnuts swelling, which is why they have a special tool. The service rep stated that i could purchase lugnuts from ford and would be charged $500. 00 for the repair. The proper lugnuts should have been installed on my vehicle when it was built. This to me is a safety hazard with a possible future roadside accident waiting to happen. |
