| Description of the problem | Tl* the contact owns a 2001 ford f150. The contact stated while accelerating from 40 to 50 mph, there was an abnormal noise and the fuel tank immediately fractured from the vehicle. There was a large gasoline fuel spillage onto the roadway. The vehicle was towed to a local repair facility where the mechanic advised that the straps that held the fuel tank to the vehicle body were corroded and caused the failure. The mechanic replaced the fuel tank, straps, pressure sensor and various clamps needed to hold the new fuel tank in place. The manufacturer advised there was not a recall for the failure and did not provide any assistance. The failure and current mileages were 246,000. |
