| Description of the problem | Tl*the contact owns a 2006 ford f-150. The contact heard a popping sound and noticed smoke under the hood and dashboard when the vehicle was started. The noise sounded as if the vehicle backfired. While driving 55 mph, the power brakes failed without warning. The contact applied the emergency brake to stop the vehicle and pulled off the road. He noticed that the vacuum hose was detached from the manifold, which supplies vacuum power to the brake booster. The vehicle was towed to a ford dealer. The dealer placed the vacuum hose back on the engine and informed the contact that it should be replaced. The weather was not a factor. The current mileage was 23,000 and failure mileage was 22,000.
