| Description of the problem | This safety concern is in regards to the power window regulators found in my 2004 ford f-150. The first window regulator (driver's side) went out while in north dakota. There was no warning just a loud pop, followed by the window falling in the door. The passenger side window regulator broke one week later to the day. When both of these broke, i was left with near zero visibility inside the cab of my truck while driving or sitting. If there is any sort of precipitation, you are no longer protected. Also, the safety of my family, property, and truck has been jeopardized. Another problem arises when you go to get the problem fixed. I took my truck to a ford dealership in jamestown, north dakota who new of the problem as soon as they saw my window. However, they were going to replace the regulator with the same part that obviously has built in obsolescence. Why would anyone pay $400 to fix one window, only to have it break days later; leaving them stranded, hurt, or worse. With literally thousands of complaints on the internet, and many submitted on this site, it concerns me to wonder if this problem has caused a fatal crash or incident yet. Maybe this is what it will take to have this problem looked at in detail. If ford motor company is willing to stand behind a plastic window regulator that has broke in my truck twice, and thousands of other similar trucks, just to save a "buck" so be it. I am just one person speaking, but, when is a "buck" worth more than someone's life. |
