Description of the problem | I started my truck one day and received a "trans fault no o/d" dash code. The vehicle has driven fine and shifted fine, but i wanted to take it to the dealer to have it looked at. They pulled a code for the transmission temperature sensor but said they noticed metal in the transmission pan. The recommendation was a new transmission ($3000) or a rebuilt torque converter. I was suspicious that it could be so serious and called a family member that worked with a mechanic at another ford dealer. He mentioned replacing a transmission in a 2005 f-150 in the past six months for the same situation. I noticed several related transmission issue reports at carcomplaints. Com as well as several ford forums. For a truck with low miles, transmission fluid that isn't burnt, and 66% highway miles with no towing, this is unbelievable and a huge financial burden. |
