| Description of the problem | Right rear emergency brake assembly shattered, bent and broken inside brake drum. Pad stripped off one brake shoe, pins bent and activator arm broken. Occurred when emergency brake applied while in parking lot. All pieces stayed in the brake drum and damaged the drum before the vehicle could be brought to a stop. Could have been very serious if it caused the drum to seize due to overheating or jamming between the drum and the axel while spinning around inside the drum while driving. |
