Description of the problem	The failure is related to the steering linkage. A total loss of steering control was the result. The tie-rod end ball joint broke off right at the pit arm. The truck has no modifications at all and was never involved in an accident. The incident happen while backing out of the driveway. If the incident would have occurred 15 min later in traffic a serious accident could have been the result. Looking at the point where the failure occurred the ball joint had held on to only a small gross section of the pin. No indication or warning of a failure was noticeable in the days before. The parts are available for inspection or testing.
