| Description of the problem | 2006 dodge ram 2500 pickup has a so called "safety" feature where is the transmission is not fully engaged in park when the door is open the horn starts honking non-stop until either the door is closed of the transmission is fully engaged in park. This fix is completely unacceptable to people who pull trailers and need to open the door while in reverse to see where they are going. To me dodge has only masked the problem by not fixing the transmission shift mechanism. I would think there should be a recall to install a proper transmission shift mechanism and remove the horn honk feature. The vehicle could still roll backwards just with the horn blowing! Need to fix the mechanical aspect if you ask me. *jb |
