Description of the problemTurn signals operate sporadically. Moving the turn signal stalk to signal a left turn can result in no flashing of the left turn signal but improper flashing of the right turn signal. Likewise when moving the turn signal stalk to signal a right turn the signal will not flash or sometimes will incorrectly signal left. This improper signal appears at both the dashboard indicator light and at the exterior front and rear turn signal lighting positions. Additionally the wiper blades have begun failing to operate when needed. When selecting an on position on the turn signal stalk the wipers will sometimes stutter across the windshield or sometimes no move at all. When the vehicle was under factory warranty the multifunction switch was replaced. This fixed the problem the first time. The vehicle is having the same problem again but is now out of warranty. Factory repair claims it will be the same replacement at owner cost. The problems happen intermittently, and can not be reproduced at will. Over time, however, they are happening more frequently.
