| Description of the problem | Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge ram 1500. While driving at approximately 40 mph, there was an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle. The contact discovered that the drive line pinion was detached causing the rear wheels to seize. The vehicle was towed to a dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v796000 (power train); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 89,000.
