Description of the problem	Purchased dodge grand caravan (modified for handicapped accessibility) in september of 2011 with approx. 10,000 miles. Several months after purchase the vehicle developed a potentially catastrophic fault. While accelerating onto an expressway the vehicle spontaneously accelerates to over 8000 rpms. The brakes are not sufficient to control the vehicle's speed. In order to correct the fault the driver must turn off the ignition key then shift the vehicle into neutral and drift to the side of the road. In order to reset the vehicle power train to safe operating conditions, the driver must start the vehicle with the ignition key. If the fault is sustained the driver must turn off the key before the engine over accelerates. This process must be repeated as often as necessary (several times) in order to cause the system to reset and allow for normal operation. This is not an easily repeatable fault. We have left the vehicle with the local dodge dealer for almost two weeks and the mechanics drive the vehicle to / from work (200+ miles) to try to repeat this fault.
