| Description of the problem | After filling up the fuel tank, the car dies while driving a few minutes later. Dealership said the fuel tank needed to be replaced and charged me $766. 55. The called it a non serviceable check valve in the fuel tank which allows liquid fuel into evaporate line after reaching a certain level. Once the vehicle is started the pcm purges the evaporate system to burn the vapors and exposure the catalyst warm up system. At this time the liquid fuel in the evaporate line is sucked into the engine intake manifold and causes the engine to stall. This is a serious safety issue because the car could be on the road. When it stalls it could easily cause an accident. Chrysler should fix this before people are injured. |
