| Description of the problem | Rear window exploded without warning sending shards of glass forward in the car. Car was travelling in right lane of i-95 at approximately 70 mph. We heard a loud pop and then the sound of the shattered safety glass pieces falling in the rear of the car. There was no construction or standing vehicles on the side of the highway, no traffic immediately behind or next to us, so we do not think it was the result of anything striking the window. The photos were taken after returning home (about 50 miles after the incident). There was initially a large hole, about 12 inches in diameter, to the left of the electrical connector for the heated window (on the right - second picture). More glass fell out between the incident and the photo. |
