Description of the problem	The vehicle was new (922 miles) and was being driven in stop and go interstate traffic. Steering was totally lost. Steering wheel rotated freely but had no affect on vehicle control. Vehicle was traveling at slow rate of speed, control was lost and vehicle came to a stop in the highway center median. Vehicle was transported to elk river chrysler for warranty repair. After removing steering column boot the chrysler technician found that the steering shaft was improperly installed at factory. The roll pin was not installed in the right area of the shaft. The roll pin was replaced and properly installed.
