| Description of the problem | The two overhead map lights stopped working. Upon investigation it appears that each light bulb and holder were severely scorched at the electrical contact. The plastic was melted and was black in color, indicating possible arcing. Further investigation showed that the main housing was melted enough to deform the plastic, further evidence of potentially a small fire or electrical arcing. Dealer refused to fix or replace damaged housing without a charge. I left the bulbs out, as i do not feel safe with my wife and grand daughter in the vehicle that could catch fire. I have searched online and found many incidents similar to mine, yet not recalls are found for this unsafe condition. |
