| Description of the problem | Support bracket weld to transmission dipstick tube broke. Dipstick tube loose and only held in place at transmission. Caught at a gm lube location in charleston, wv during routine lube and oil change. They stated they have seen at least 6 of these breaks in late model gm suvs. In worst case tube could pop out of transmission and leaking transmission oil could hit exhaust and cause a fire. My fix is a small hose clamp around the bracket and tube to hold it in place. |
