Description of the problem	I took my 2005 chevy tahoe in for a service lite. I was informed that the under dash connectors for the airbag system needed to be replaced or the airbags would not work in an accident, at a cost of just over $500. 00. I asked what the exact problem was and was told that the connector was loose and not making connect. I then did some basic research on the web looking for recalls and such and found several reports of collisions involving 05 tahoes where the airbags did not deploy at speeds exceeding 35mph. I was also informed that gm already had an upgraded connector set to replace the bad ones as the problem has been seen more than once. It appears to me that gm knows that a manufacturing defect is at fault, they have identified the problem and made an upgraded replacement part and have no problem charging consumers $500. 00 to replace the parts. In the meantime people are driving the vehicles and i guess, hoping the airbag will deploy in the event of an accident, which is not the case in several crashes. I have no way to check what vehicles / model years those connectors were used on but, it seems like there is a problem here that should be looked at before more accidents become fatal. My wife was saved by her airbag being deployed in a previous accident, i am glad we did not find out the hard way this one would not have been there for her.
