Description of the problem | My problem is on-going regarding blind-spots/poor visibility due to oversized side view mirrors. I have spoken to my toyota dealer parts dept, the saleman, the head of the service department, toyota manufacturing's customer service department; non of them are able to help me. They referred me to you. The over-sized side mirrors & housing cause very serious blind spots looking to either the driver's side or passenger side, blocking visibility over the front fenders when making a right or left turn. I have become very proactive if i am entering into an intersection to be aware if there is a vehicle or person in the intersection before i get there. Otherwise i do not see them if they are alreadyin the blind spot numerous times i have almost hit someone, children, or a car when turning because of this. Only luck and the other person's awareness that i did not hit them. Unfortunately, no matter how proactively aware i am of my surroundings, if a vehicle or person has already entered into the blind spot or dead zone it does not matter i will not see them. It happened again just recently. Toyota says they have no options for replacing the mirrors with a smaller version. I have put a cushion on my seat to raise me, but that is of little help. I need a smaller profiled mirror. Too me the need for such an over sized mirror and housing is unnecessary for everyday driving. It is a liability. It is just a matter of time before something happens. I do not want to have get rid of the truck, but i do not want to hurt someone. I am very concerned. I have seen internet postings of others having the same issue. The salesman said he is aware of this being an issue for some people with the prius. Please give a call with suggestions and help. Thank you very much, jackie |
