Description of the problem | I received a recall notice #v06/nhtsa19v-021 in the mail, so i went out to inspect the drag link on my 2016 ram 3500 and noticed that the lower jam nut had backed off the threads about a 1/4" in. Contacted the dealer to see when they would be able to fix this issue and was told to call back in a few weeks. And i spoke to the service adviser to see what the fix was going to be and was told that they would tighten the jam nut and weld nut to the sleeve. I have been a welder for over 30 years at the psns in bremerton, wa.. If you do not know the material type and weld filler material type it could cause a failure of the weld and the material that it is welded to. Also, anytime you weld something the heat affected zone is a weak spot. I don't think this correct fix due to it being a steering component. *dt*jb |
