Description of the problem | At 104,000 miles, engine code for cylinder #3 misfire. 16 new plugs and #3 coil pack did not fix the issue. Further testing revealed revealed a bad lifter. Engine overhaul produced a seized roller on the lifter that eventually completely wore a lobe of the camshaft. With the replacement of lifters, camshaft, valve springs, the mechanic shop also replaced 5 broken exhaust manifold bolts (another known problem with 5. 7l hemi engine). $4000 later i have a significant engine overhaul on an engine with just 104,000 miles that was just out of warranty. 5w20 mobile 1 synthetic oil used at all oil changes at factory recommended interval, since truck was new. |
