Description of the problem | My ram 2500 diesel was in cruise control on a 4 lane highway with periodic stop lights when i pushed heavily on the gas pedal to accelerate while pulling a 13,000 lb trailer. When i took my foot off the gas, the engine stayed in full acceleration mode. Full braking was not slowing the vehicle much and it looked like we were going to collide in to vehicles ahead of us. I shifted in to neutral, the engine raced at high rpm, but i was then able to slow down and avoid the vehicles. I shut off the motor for a short time, restarted it and it was fine. A recall is apparently available for ram 2500s with gasoline engines, but i was told not for my diesel. That needs to be rectified immediately to get ours fixed. Very scary. |
