Description of the problem | While towing, rubber section of fan shroud came into contact with fan sending material into radiator. This caused catastrophic damage and loss of coolant while towing on highway in high traffic conditions. Coolant loss triggered multiple alarm/warnings requiring urgent engine shutdown. After stopping vehichle appeared to have engine compartment fire which turned out to be steam from coolant. But engine temps rapidly increased. Truck mileage 35,893, first time towing after water pump recall had been completed. |
