Description of the problem | Accelerated onto highway entrance ramp and vehicle continued to accelerate on its own up to 80+ mph. Required hard breaking to get vehicle under control since the electronic ignition will not allow it to be turned off unless the transmission is in park. Required such heavy braking that brakes smoked for several minutes once vehicle was shut down. This incident would have resulted in serious injury and damage if it occurred on city streets. Truck is a 2014 with 10650 miles on it. Vehicle was towed to dealer for repair. Searches on the internet revealed the occurrence of many incidents with dodge and ram electronic throttle controls and i'm surprised none have been reported to the national highway transportation safety administration. |
