Description of the problemI have had an ongoing email thread with [xxx] at gm cust svc since 09/24/2014 concerning my non-attached drivers seat. Let me again repeat: my driver seat is neither permanently nor securely attached to the vehicle. I received one low-ball estimate from an auto shop who priced $425 to repair the seat; i then recently had the local gm dealership look at it - and they quoted over $1,000 to replace the driver seat, rail and seat cover. Corp gm customer service has since given me the runaround. I called her on it and point blank asked if gm would be issuing a recall and repairing these drivers seats. I received her response this morning, in part: i know that it can be troubling to worry about vehicle safety. I want to assure you that your safety is of the upmost importance to us. We certainly want our customers to know they can rely on their vehicles... I looked into the vin you provided and found 0 open recalls or service announcements associated with your vehicle relating to this concern. Unfortunately, due to your vehicle s age and mileage you are outside of your bumper to bumper warranty and most likely any associated costs, if you choose to work with a gm dealer, will be customer pay. That was her response is after the dealership confirmed and priced the broken driver seat. I know there is no recall - that is the point of my ongoing communications with gm - to get them to acknowledge the hundreds upon hundreds of pontiac g6 vehicles that have this manufacturing defect. There are over 200 separate blog posts concerning the broken drivers seat on the g6ownersclub. Com/forum website. Within those 200 posts are many, many, many, responses to each post. Please look into this incredible safety hazard. Does someone else need to die in order for gm to finally publicly acknowledge this manufacturing defect?
