Description of the problem | Noticed gasoline odors, hard starting, check engine light came on, took to shop for diagnosis. Mechanic said the plastic housing on the top of the fuel pump had cracked, causing gas to leak from the tank also low fuel pressure and vacuum problems. Said car was unsafe to drive and needed the entire fuel pump replaced. The total repair cost is $1000. The g5 model has the same problem and there has been a factory recall but none on the g6 model. |
