Description of the problem	I noticed a strong gas odor coming from my vehicle and even inside my vehicle when i was parked. I thought it was the gas i had put into the tank the previous day. However, with my car parked in the garage at my home, the gas smell became overwhelming. I took my vehicle into the dealership for maintenance and they informed me that the fuel pump needed replacing and notified me of the cost. I contacted pontiac and they called the dealership on conference call to clarify for me what was needed. On the call (with pontiac on the line) the dealership explained that a plastic piece of the fuel pump was cracked and could not be replaced separately so that is why i had to pay to replace the entire fuel pump. This defect is exactly what is listed in the recall on the pontiac g5 2007-2009 and i find it no coincidence that the same issue has occurred on my vehicle and i'm sure countless others who just aren't aware to file a complaint.
